Today, after my interview at Urban, I proved that they should take me on. I provided entertainment as I drove home through rush hour. My Chicago soundtrack was the only music readily available, and "Move On" was my track of choice. As I inched along the freeway, I sang along with Catherine Zeta-Jones and let Miss Zellweger counterpoint. And believe me... I sang.
The Guy in the Blue Truck, wearing a red bandanna and talking on his cell phone, kept glancing in his rear-view mirror and grinning broadly. I couldn't see his eyes, but I was sure they were blue. I almost rolled down my window and told him that he wasn't allowed to laugh until he got off his cell phone, but I thought that might be the second-most rude thing in the world. (The first? Talking on a cell phone in rush hour traffic, of course!)
Boy in the White Honda acted like he couldn't see me. I'm sorry that I embarrassed him when I don't even know him, but it was just too much fun.
I figured I ought to stop when Girl in Yellow Bug in Front of Me and Man in Black Cadillac Behind Me joined forces to make me quiet down. Girl in Yellow Bug slammed on her brakes, making me slam on my brakes accordingly. Man in Black Cadillac swerved, nearly scraping the side of my harmless little car. He came to rest right beside me on the shoulder, and we glared at one another. And I knew what he was thinking.
"Girl in Red Pontiac, we will crush you."
So I just pulled into the middle lane and kept on singing. Man in Black Cadillac passed me, and gave me one more evil glare... but I'm pretty sure Boy in the White Honda smiled at me.
